I have delivered this talk as a conference headline, workshop and learning series. We’ll look at some common challenges around communication and mindset, as well as strategies to encourage open communication and feedback within your team. Not forgetting the importance of celebrating successes and recognising the contributions of each team member.
As an accredited Gallup strengths coach, I speak with knowledge and conviction about taking a strengths approach to help you deliver on your organisation’s inclusion and belonging action plans. This talk can be tailored for leaders, managers or teams. I have previously delivered it to students, academics and corporate audiences.
Women, and men, have long suffered the indignity and inconvenience of ill-fitting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This talk explores the topic in more detail, with sprinklings of humour and real-life anecdotes. Whether you are looking for a keynote or a short introduction to a panel, this talk is always a thought-provoking conversation starter.
I love to deliver thought-provoking, interactive workshops that explore what inclusion means to an individual, especially when it’s in science or engineering. I have done face-to-face workshops, plus online and hybrid events, for small C-suite executive teams to over 300 professional engineers. A bit like myself, all my sessions are outcome-focused. I ask participants to commit to at least one follow-up action. I can provide a thought-provoking key note address or a full-day workshop.
If we want a different cadre of engineers and to do engineering differently, we need to shift our approach to education and training. To simply recruit more to solve the skills gap and gender balance doesn’t work. I have developed an introduction to 100 ways we can tinker and tweak how we educate and train our next generation of engineers. Stemming from my work designing the award-winning UCL Integrated Engineering Programme, I have developed a facilitated workshop based on card sorting. Read more on the report, and find out about the workshop and tool.
The blockbuster film Hidden Figures blew away the image of (female) mathematicians and coders. Suddenly they are clever, sassy and stylish. These are people who made a difference against the odds. Why have so few people heard of these change maker mathematicians working at NASA? My energetic talks are filled with knowledge about early women engineers and are aimed at students, academics or corporate audiences. I explore how and why these women are hidden from our language and history. Read more about making workspaces more inclusive in Transform the Future.
